POCO India, a division of Xiaomi's popular sub-brand, has sent a tweet suggesting that a so-called '#NewPoco' is to be released tomorrow (December 25). Any excitement around such an announcement may be tempered by speculation that this "reveal" is not much more than a new color or RAM SKU of the pre-existing POCO F1, however.

Update: Agarwal was right: it's a 6GB/128GB POCO F1 Armoured Edition. It will be available for 23,999INR (or about US$342) on Flipkart and mi.com from December 26.

POCO India's general manager, Manmohan Chandolu, has released a Tweet via the company's official account about an "exciting" release scheduled for tomorrow (December 25). Given that this post included the hashtag, #NewPOCO, it is reasonable to assume that it is a new mobile device from the increasingly popular Xiaomi sub-brand. Its first product, the POCO F1, is probably still one of the best value-for-money Snapdragon 845-powered smartphones available today.

On the other hand, there is also speculation online that this 'New POCO' is merely a new color SKU for the F1. Alternatively, the tipster Ishan Agarwal believes that it may be a new RAM SKU for the POCO F1 Armoured Edition, which has a Kevlar back-plate. To date, this variant has only been available with 8GB of RAM. The other, most probable, new option for it is 6GB in RAM, which would result in a more competitive price-point. This possibility could be welcome for many POCO fans.

Agarwal's other main theory is that Xiaomi intends to release a gradient-color variant of the Pocophone in India tomorrow. This additional bit of novelty may also drive sales for the sub-brand during the special event. However, we will only know for sure tomorrow.
