Oura smart ring users to get new blood sugar related feature as company acquires Veri
Oura has announced that it is acquiring Veri, a metabolic health app that uses continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to measure blood sugar levels. Metabolic health tracking, alongside cardiovascular, sleep, stress, and menstrual cycle monitoring, are already offered by the Oura smart ring. An integration with Veri, as well as January and Supersapiens, for blood sugar level tracking was launched last year.
Now, Oura is looking to build out its metabolic health offering further. Initially, a Meals feature will allow users to track when they eat and could help users to understand how meal timings and subsequent blood sugar levels impact their stress levels, sleep quality and recovery. Android Authority spotted this tool earlier this year in an APK teardown of the Oura Android app version 5.3.4. Insights are composed using the manually input meal data and your chronotype, which reflects your circadian rhythm and is calculated based on your last 90 days of sleep.
Meals will launch in Oura Labs, a testing hub where users can opt-in to try out new features and provide feedback, at some point in the next few months. Oura has stated that it wants to offer a suite of linked products, providing a holistic overview of your health, indicating that CGMs will be just one such input.
