Origin PC has updated the 15.6-inch EVO15-S gaming laptops and NT-15 workstation models with mid-range Comet Lake-H CPUs. The refreshed models can be customized to some degree, but the CPU component is restricted to the Intel Core i7-10875H.
As far as displays and GPUs go, users can choose among four options: FHD IPS 144 Hz & RTX 2070 / FHD IPS 240 Hz & RTX 2080 Super / UHD OLED 60 Hz & RTX 2070 / UHD OLED 60 Hz & 2080 RTX Super. There is support for up to 64 GB of RAM in 2400 MHz and 2666 MHz flavors. For storage, users can add up to two 2 TB NVMe SSDs, or can opt for a more affordable NVMe + SATA SSD combo. Origin PC has not modified the previous chassis in any way, so the refreshed models still weigh 4.4 lbs and are 0.77 inches thick, while users can customize the lid with laser etchings or HD UV printings of their choice.
Other non-customizable features include:
- Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.1
- 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 + 1x Thunderbolt 3 connectors
- Mini DisplayPort 1.3 + HDMI video outputs
- Ethernet jack, micro SD card reader, fingerprint reader
- RGB backlit keyboard
- 24/7 free lifetime support for U.S. clients, 90-day no dead pixel guarantee
When it comes to prices, Origin PC is clearly less competitive than consecrated OEMs, but this could be justified through the lifetime support and additional guarantees. Thus, the default system on the Origin PC site, which comes equipped with the i7-10875H CPU, 15.6-inch FHD 144 Hz & RTX 2070 GPU, 16 GB of DDR4-2400 and 240 GB Nvme SSD is available for US$1,998, while the 4K OLED & RTX 2080 Super model with 32 GB DDR4-2666 and 4 TB storage is priced at US$3,707.
