With over three decades of history behind it, Opera is one of the oldest desktop web browsers still active. Opera 122.0.5643.51 arrived last Thursday with quite a few noticeable changes, the most visible one being the redesigned browsing History interface. Additionally, the two new visual themes can change the looks of the browser drastically, but they need to be applied first. Other functional changes show up when being used, for example, the Google Lens image search function and the Video Skip button.
When talking about the redesigned History section, there are two highlights worth mentioning:
- The ability to select multiple pages and reopen the selection as a Tab Island.
- Entire domain deletion from History by simply hovering over any webpage in this section and choosing the "Remove entire domain" option.
The two new dynamic themes that have joined Opera One are Obsidian, a minimalist black noir visual layout, and Cybercity, a Mitch Myers-made futuristic cityscape with neon lights and a nocturnal urban background. The Video Skip button is joining Opera One, but also Opera Air and Opera GX. According to the official blog post, this piece of code is "an experimental feature that lets you skip over video ads or unwanted content that appears before what you want to watch."
Opera 122.0.5643.51 is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux (DEB, RPM, and SNAP packages). The download links can be found in this brief blog post, which also includes a link to the changelog.
