OnePlus sets clear release dates for Lollipop updates

Teaser
The company assures that both CyanogenMod 12S and its own OxygenOS will be released by the end of this month. Five OnePlus One smartphones will be given away if either of the deadlines is missed.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has been expected to update its One to Android 5.0 Lollipop for quite a while now but so far it didn't happen. Due to a disagreement with Cyanogen, OnePlus ended up moving away from CyanogenMod firmware and instead announced their own Android-based ROM called Oxygen OS. It was scheduled to release on February 12, but this deadline was apparently missed. Because of this, we had to settle on testing the One with CyanogenMod 11 (based on Android 4.4.4).

However, today the company announced the new release dates on their forum. By March 27, OnePlus promises to release Oxygen OS, and by March 30, an update to CyanogenMod 12S will be made available as well for those who prefer it to OxygenOS. Both ROMs are Lollipop-based. After this, all development will be focused exclusively on Oxygen OS, though updated unofficial CyanogenMod builds for OnePlus' One might still continue to be released.

To show that it means business this time, the company even stated that if either of the deadlines are missed, five 64 GB OnePlus One smartphones will be given away. To join the giveaway, one must register on the OnePlus forum and reply to the announcement thread.
