The new firmware is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and includes a revamped theming feature and the new Boxer-based Email app, in addition to the regular Lollipop changes like Material Design.

After facing a few delays, Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Cyanogen 12 OS is now finally ready for launch. According to a post on the official Cyanogen blog, all OnePlus One handsets will get the update starting today, including those sold in India. YU Yureka will also get this Lollipop update "very soon" as well, while upcoming Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+ will come loaded with Cyanogen 11, but should also get the Cyanogen 12 update in the future.

Cyanogen 12 OS comes with extra theming features, allowing the use of both paid and free visual themes. The update has a new component called App Themer that allows to customize the looks of individual apps. The new Cyanogen email is powered by Boxer, so now all Cyanogen OS users get free access to the premium Boxer app which includes Exchange support, multiple accounts, as well as canned responses.

In addition to the above, Cyanogen 12 comes with all the regular Android 5.0 Lollipop improvements, such as Material Design, improved battery and memory management, as well as multiple fixes and tweaks.
