OnePlus April 20th event details

Teaser
OnePlus’ event on Monday gave some new information about upcoming products and more

OnePlus, creator of the exclusive smartphone called the One, held an event yesterday regarding announcements for the year old device as well as future products that will be sold. The first big announcement is the fact that the OnePlus One will finally be sold to anyone in the public who wanted to buy one. For the last year that it has been on sale, the One could only be purchased by an extremely exclusive invite system in which those interested could only receive invites through OnePlus forums, contests, and family and friends. With this entry barrier out of the way, the phone will now be readily available for any who were looking to purchase one all along.

The company also announced on Monday that they would be creating the OnePlus 2, the successor to the One, and there is speculation of it being released in 2015 as well as the expected return of the Oxygen OS. Interestingly enough, they’ve decided to launch the smartphone with invites as well, and feel that the invite system is good for minimizing risk on their end as well as ensuring that those with an invite will be guaranteed a phone if they’d like to purchase one. This system does alienate a lot of customers as it did last year, but OnePlus is convinced that this system allows them to bring the most value to those who do end up with their products.
