OnePlus previews Nord CE5 with 7,100mAh battery and Nord 5 with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
OnePlus India has officially confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 5 series will be formally introduced on July 8th. The successor to the OnePlus Nord 4 is apparently receiving a number of significant upgrades, led by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
As we previously reported, OnePlus has opted for a 50MP main camera based on the Sony LYT-700 sensor, as well as a 50 MP selfie camera with autofocus. Both the main camera and the selfie camera can record 4K video at 60 frames per second. According to earlier rumors, OnePlus is equipping the smartphone with a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1272 pixels, up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of flash storage. A 5,200mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C at up to 80 watts is also onboard.
The OnePlus Nord CE5 is likely positioned as a more affordable alternative to the OnePlus Nord 5, but the teaser website promotes a gigantic 7,100 mAh battery that is said to last up to 2.5 days on a full charge. However, OnePlus has confirmed to 9to5Google that the mid-range smartphone will ship with a smaller battery in some regions, as rumors suggest a 5,200mAh battery will be found in the global model variant.
Anyhow, the OnePlus Nord CE5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and a 50MP main camera with a Sony sensor and optical image stabilization. This main shooter is capable of recording 4K video at 60 fps. The affordable OnePlus phone is also expected to offer an AMOLED display and 80-watt fast charging, although buyers of the "Core Edition" will reportedly only get a 16MP selfie camera and an IP54-rated chassis.
