Back in April, a Bloomberg report revealed initial details on Meta’s so-called "Hypernova", which is a pair of smart glasses that is equipped with a display, unlike the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses (from $299 on Amazon). Those only feature cameras, microphones and speakers. The display allows information to be shown directly in the user's field of view.
The Meta Hypernova are expected to hit the market before the end of this year. The highly reliable leaker @MysteryLupin has now published a first image of these smart glasses, including the wristband that will serve as a remote control for many of the glasses' features. Meta is apparently sticking with a design that is almost identical to the Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer, only the temples are a bit thicker in order to accommodate the additional components. The wristband reportedly sports various sensors and an adjustable design.
According to Bloomberg, the smart glasses will be exceptionally expensive. Purportedly, Meta is internally discussing a price between $1,000 and $1,400. The high MSRP is primarily attributed to the display, which is located in the bottom right corner of the right lens. In 2027, a successor is expected to be equipped with displays in both lenses. Moreover, the glasses are said to support a range of apps, from a navigation app to a camera app, while incoming notifications from a connected smartphone can be displayed as well. Users will be able to control their glasses via the touch-sensitive temples, the wristband or voice commands.
