OnePlus 5 could be coming in May with dual rear cameras
OnePlus may be skipping the unlucky number 4 for its eventual OnePlus 3 successor.
The information comes from a model number leak through the Chinese Radio Regulation Authority website where it lists an unannounced OnePlus smartphone as model A5000. In comparison, the original OnePlus 3 uses the model number A3000. The source provides no other information about the smartphone aside from compatible radio frequencies and LTE.
Outside of the official documents, leaks have also appeared showing the supposed outer case of the OnePlus 5. From there, sources have drawn conclusions on what features the next OnePlus smartphone may bring including the possibility of dual rear cameras. Note that the images have not been verified and should be taken with a grain of salt.
The mainline OnePlus smartphones have traditionally shipped with high-end specifications for mainstream prices. Its next entry has been rumored to feature a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 5.5-inch QHD display, and 6 to 8 GB of RAM. It remains to be seen if the Chinese manufacturer will incorporate super-narrow bezels or 2:1 displays like the LG G6 or utilize a more traditional approach to save on costs.
