The OnePlus 3 and recently launched OnePlus 3T will get a worthy successor in the OnePlus 5 which is coming this summer. OnePlus is known for offering fans smartphones with high-end specs well below the cost of flagships from Apple, Samsung, and Google.
Smartphone maker OnePlus is releasing its rumored flagship successor, the OnePlus 5, this summer. The company posted to Weibo recently with the tagline, “Hello 5,” all but confirming that the smartphone will be called the OnePlus 5. The previous version was the OnePlus 3, but OnePlus has avoided calling their phone the OnePlus 4 likely because the number is considered unlucky in Chinese culture as it is pronounced similarly to the character meaning “death.”
The image also includes the words “Hey Summer! Give me five!” as an indication of a summer release date. There have been no confirmed statements about a specific day or month, but it’s likely that the phone will be out by the end of July.
News about the OnePlus 5’s purported specs remains sparse, so rumors are all we have to go on at this time. At the moment, most believe that the OnePlus 5 will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display and the Snapdragon 835 chipset. In addition, it will likely have dual-cameras at the rear and a larger 3600 mAh battery.
