The OnePlus 5 was confirmed to carry a front-facing fingerprint by CEO Liu Zuoto on Weibo.

Seeing news of the OnePlus 5 has become rather tiring at this point, with the Chinese company doing all it can to build up steam for one of the most anticipated devices in recent times. Yesterday on Weibo, OnePlus CEO Liu Zuoto confirmed the placement of the fingerprint reader on the OnePlus 5.

And it’s going to be on the front. Shocking.

OnePlus have confirmed that the device will skip straight to the OnePlus 5 after the major success that was the OnePlus 3T. Ergo, there will be no OnePlus 4.

The OnePlus 5 will—much like all flagships this year—carry Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, dual rear cameras, 5.5” QHD display, and possibly up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. It is expected to bear a price tag in the region of $500.

In spite of the myriad of conflicting design leaks, performance of the OnePlus 5 is something that has never been in doubt, with the flagship killer again doing what it does best. A leak yesterday has provided data showing the device outperforming the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel XL on speed tests.

You'd do well to take it with a grain of salt.
