OnePlus 16 massive battery confirmed ahead of launch

Ahead of the scheduled October 12 launch, OnePlus has shared another specification for the OnePlus 16. This time, it’s the battery size, and as expected, it is the largest battery in a OnePlus phone. The OnePlus 15 already had a massive battery, but the company has taken it a step further, while retaining fast wireless charging and bypass charging.
President of OnePlus China, Li Jie Louis, has confirmed on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 will be backed by a 9,000 mAh battery, in line with past leaks. It will also feature 50W fast wireless charging as well as bypass charging. For reference, the OnePlus 15 ($1,119 on Amazon) comes with a 7,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 50W fast wireless charging, 120W wired charging, and bypass charging. That number, however, was beaten by the OnePlus 15R (7,400 mAh) and the OnePlus 15T (7,500 mAh).
With the OnePlus 16, the company is looking to set a new benchmark for smartphone battery life without making it a chunky device.
The battery capacity joins other confirmed specs for the OnePlus 16, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC, 185 Hz refresh rate support with system-wide 165 Hz, a 200 MP primary camera, 50 MP ultra-wide, and 50 MP telescope camera. Even more interesting are the lighting effects on the back of the Tomorrow's Starlight color variant.
It should be noted that the OnePlus 16 will not launch in the US or European markets. It will arrive in China on October 12, but availability in other markets such as India is unclear at this point.
