OnePlus 11 Pro: 2023-bound flagship to be launched without the Pro moniker
The soon-to-be-launched OnePlus 11 Pro has been at the centre of numerous leaks, including one that revealed its entire spec sheet. Its non-Pro sibling, on the other hand, didn't get nearly as much limelight. Twitter leaker Max Jambor has revealed some important information that explains why.
Like last year, OnePlus will only launch one flagship device in Q1. The device previously referred to as the OnePlus 11 Pro will be launched as the OnePlus 11. OnePlus' decision to drop the Pro moniker is likely an attempt to simplify its naming scheme, with one numbered flagship launching in Q1 and its T variant in Q3.
However, this is the diametric opposite of last year's approach (OnePlus 10 Pro followed by the OnePlus 10T) and could further confuse new buyers. While there is a chance that OnePlus could launch the OnePlus 11 Pro later in the year, the OnePlus 11's specs are already Pro-tier, Max adds.
OnePlus's one-flagship launch cycle comes as a breath of fresh air in an era when OEMs have no qualms about launching three, or even four devices together. Whether or not it will help the OnePlus 11 sell more remains to be seen, although it looks promising with its 1-inch camera sensor and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
