The Homey Pro smart home hub has been unveiled; the company claims it is the world’s most advanced gadget in its class. As with its predecessor, the Homey, the device enables you to link over 50,000 devices and control them with mobile or web apps or using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa voice commands.
Many connectivity options are available, including Wi-Fi – 2.4/5.0GHz b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth LE 5.0. Plus, new to the Pro model are built-in wireless range extending Zigbee, Z-Wave, Infrared and 433 MHz tools; the older model required a secondary device, the Homey Bridge, to enable these features. Future upgrades include Thread and Matter support, which will come to the gadget in Q3 and Q2 of 2023, respectively. Other tools include Flow, or the new Advanced Flow, which you can use to create smart home automations, such as generating notifications or adjusting a gadget’s settings based on a trigger device.
The Homey Pro uses local processing, enabling it to run even if your internet connection goes down. The gadget has a 1.8 GHz Quad Core ARM v8 CPU with 2 GB RAM and 8 GB eMMC Flash memory. You can currently pre-order the Homey Pro smart home hub for US$399 in the US and Canada. You can add the Homey Pro Ethernet Adapter to your purchase for US$29, with the first wave of orders expected to ship in December.
