Obsbot is back with a brand-new external webcam with a feature set that looks quite enticing on paper, thanks to its plethora of tracking capabilities. The Obsbot Tiny SE is already available on Obsbot's official Amazon US storefront and is priced at a relatively affordable $99.
Unfortunately, high-resolution enthusiasts will likely be disappointed to know that the Obsbot Tiny SE maxes out at 1080p, considering that it is not all that difficult to find 4k-equipped webcams these days. The Tiny SE does support high-framerate shooting, at up to 100 FPS in 1080p and 120 FPS in 720p. A 1/2.8" CMOS sensor with 12-bit color support is featured, which should allow for decent recording quality.
However, the main selling point for the Obsbot Tiny SE is not its hardware, but rather its software. The AI-equipped webcam comes with facial recognition and tracking capabilities, made possible by its dynamic framing, courtesy of its 4x digital zoom, as well as physical repositioning, which the webcam is capable of via the optional remote. The webcam sports support for hand gestures as well, which means that users can control the webcam's position without having physical contact with the system, which should come in handy for tutorials or presentations.
All told, the Obsbot Tiny SE looks impressive on paper, although its actual real-world performance and video quality can only be established via proper hands-on reviews.
