Previous rumors claimed that Nvidia’s Super lineup is a mere refresh for last year’s RTX series in light of AMD’s freshly announced 7 nm Navi cards, but the latest insider info coming from WCCFTech presents a different situation. It looks like the Super lineup will include completely new chips, not OC versions for the existing SKUs, and, in addition to new versions for the RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 GPUs, Nvidia is also preparing more powerful RTX 2070 Ti and 2080 Ti variants.
WCCFTech notes that the naming scheme for the new cards is not yet confirmed, yet all new versions will get the SUPER branding to differentiate them from the existing RTX GPUs. The non-Ti SUPER GPUs are scheduled to launch around June 21, while the Ti versions may arrive a month or two later. As such, Nvidia’s AIB partners are expected to start cutting prices for existing RTX GPUs by the end of this month. Moreover, the new SUPER lineup is supposed to feature unlocked GPUs across the board, leading to a greater variety of custom cards.
If you thought the RTX 2080 Ti was a beast, wait until the new RTX 2080 Ti SUPER version gets released. This one is rumored to feature a completely unlocked GPU with TDPs of up to 300 W. No exact specs for now, but word on the street is it will get more CUDA cores and faster GDDR6 memory (possibly more than 11 GB), so it should end up considerably faster than the current RTX 2080 Ti, but for roughly the same price.
The RTX 2070 Ti SUPER is also expected to get a new chip with more cores and faster VRAM, while the non-Ti cards will be getting unlocked chips as follows:
• RTX 2080 SUPER -> RTX 2080 Ti non-OC
• RTX 2070 SUPER -> RTX 2080 non-OC
• RTX 2060 SUPER -> RTX 2070 non-OC
Since AMD’s Navi cards are threatening to disrupt Nvidia’s current mid-range solutions, the green team is now moving to reclaim that sector and further raise the bar for the high-end sector with the SUPER lineup.
