Nothing hints at an imminent phone (1)-related announcement
Nothing has set a general window of Summer 2022 to launch its first ever smartphone, the phone (1), which has subsequently led to predictions that the more specific date involved would be July 21, 2022. Carl Pei's latest start-up has now released a tweet that might contradict this rumor, however.
The social-media message in question was posted on June 6, 2022, and consists of 2 words, "This week", thereby leading to speculation that Nothing now has about 5 days from this point to debut its phone (1). Then again, the tweet could also be taken to mean that the brand will simply make a launch-date announcement within that time-frame.
On that note, Nothing has also recently endorsed a number of leaks surrounding its first-gen Android device. This list includes details from its own design previews, as well as the more recent, less official leak pointing to a lack of bottom bezel in this impending device. It also contains the phrase, "Announcement date coming (very) soon", suggesting that the actual launch is still set for later this season.
Meanwhile, Nothing has shed some light on how an aspiring phone (1) owner might pick their unit up on its eventual release. It has made surprisingly swift progress on this subject, announcing partnerships with the major Indian retailer Flipkart, as well as the carriers O2 and Deutsche Telekom in Europe, "amongst many others around the globe".
Therefore, phone (1) availability may be markedly widespread and convenient, especially for a first-gen device from an all-new company. Now, the price at which Nothing will set it through all these new vendors remains to be seen.
Nothing ear (1): now on Amazon.
