Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition is coming, and you can submit your ideas now

Last year, Nothing organized a competition where its fans designed a special edition of the Nothing Phone (2a). The competition received entries for different categories including hardware, wallpaper, packaging, and marketing. The result of the competition was the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition which was available in limited quantities. Now, Nothing is back with a second iteration for the just released Nothing Phone (3a).

Just like last year, Nothing is accepting hardware (now includes packaging), software (wallpapers, lockscreen clocks, unlock animations, and widgets), and marketing ideas for a special edition of the Phone (3a). It has also added accessories/merchandise to the list this time. Winning entries will be selected based on votes from community members as well as a jury.

There will be a total of four winners — one for each category — and they will collaborate with the Nothing team to bring their ideas to life. Nothing has also revealed that there will be a monetary prize this year. Of course, the winners will also be invited to London for the development and the launch of the phone.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition, which will be the result of the collaboration, will be released at the end of the year, and just like the Phone (2a) Community Edition, it will be available for purchase, most likely in limited quantities. 

It is no surprise that Nothing is bringing back the Community Edition phone considering the first iteration was a success. The Phone (2a) Community Edition, which has a glow-in-the-dark design, not only sold out in just 15 minutes but also received a Gold iF Design Award.

Submissions for the competition are open now until the 23rd of April (11 AM GMT). Winners will be announced at the end of April. Do note that the competition is only for the Phone (3a) and not the Phone (3a) Pro (available on Amazon for $499).
