The idea of a more portable refrigerator styled after the latest Xbox Series X console - one that you might be able to buy soon, moreover - sounds like the most April Fool’s Day thing ever. However, a Microsoft executive still states that it is real and will be available soon.

The Xbox Series X fridge is a well-known hype stunt for the console in question, publicized by figures such as Snoop Dogg and iJustine as it was. Nevertheless, claims that Microsoft would also mass-product a miniature version have been dismissed as yet another season-appropriate joke – until now.

The Xbox division's General Manager Aaron Greenberg has announced that this product is in fact on the way. The Series X Mini Fridge will be released in celebration of its maker’s victory in the recent poll-based Best of Tweets competition (Brands Bracket).

Greenberg did not mention when, where or how this new product will be first available. However, he did confirm that the first unit “off the line” would be presented to the Redmond giant’s defeated foe in the social media battle-royale, Skittles. Let’s hope the candy company will unbox a fridge replica complete with its take on the Series X’s attractive cooling solution.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
