It is just a few weeks to the release of the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The accessory has been available to pre-order since December, following an initial announcement in September 2025. Ahead of its release, Nintendo has uploaded a new promotional video for the Virtual Boy alongside a list of games that will be available to play at launch.
The Nintendo Virtual Boy accessory is compatible with the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 (available on Amazon for $499). However, interested buyers are required to have a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
When it launches on February 17, only 7 games will be available. However, Nintendo says more games will be released in the future. Below are the games that will be available at launch:
- Teleroboxer
- Galactic Pinball
- Red Alarm
- Golf
- Virtual Boy Wario Land
- 3-D Tetris
- The Mansion of Innsmouth
When playing any of these games, players will be able to create suspend points to save their progress. They will also be able to rewind to correct mistakes, and even remap controls in the middle of a game.
Other games Nintendo says will be added later in the year include Mario Clash, Mario Tennis, Jack Bros., Space Invaders Virtual Collection, Virtual Bowling, Vertical Force, and V-Tetris. Nintendo will also release additional titles that were not originally released when the Virtual Boy was originally launched in 1995. These games are Zero Racers and D-Hopper, and they will be released this year, too.
In addition to new games, the Virtual Boy will also get an additional feature this year, specifically the ability to customize the screen color of the in-game experience. In addition to the default red, users will be able to change the screen color to yellow, green, and white. Although, this will require owners to remove the red lens cover of the Virtual Boy.
The Virtual Boy and the virtual Boy (Cardboard Model) are available to buy directly from Nintendo for $99.99 and $24.99 respectively.
