Seiko has released the 5 Sports J. Press collaboration limited edition model, the SBSA317, in Japan. This analog watch from the Japanese watchmaker has been made in partnership with the American clothing brand, with a retro design.
The SBSA317 has a cream/yellow dial, with gold colored indexes and hands. The casing is silver toned stainless steel, measuring 37.4 x 44.7 x 12.5 mm (~1.47 x 1.76 x 0.49 inches). The dial is covered with curved hardlex glass, and lumibrite on the hands should make it easier to tell the time in low lighting. The first slim strap is made from silver colored stainless steel, and there is a second, crocodile embossed leather strap in black.
Seiko’s SBSA317 is powered by a 4R36 caliber, an automatic movement with manual winding, with a 41-hour power reserve. This analog watch has three hands, said to remain accurate to within 45 seconds each day. There is a stop second hand function, as well as a date display showing the day of the week and the day number. It is also marketed as water resistant to 10 bar.
In Japan, the Seiko 5 Sports J. Press collaboration SBSA317 watch is priced at ¥ 61,600 (~$1,032). There are only 500 units available, each with a serial number on the caseback. At the time of writing, the company has not announced plans to launch this product in other markets, like the US.
