New Moto G8 Plus leak will leave fans of the series breathless
Until the launch of the Pixel 3a phones earlier in the year, Motorola's Moto G series was widely regarded as the mid-range lineup of choice in the US smartphone market. The introduction of competition in that segment looks to have done a lot of good, if the latest Moto G8 Plus leak is anything to go by.
The Moto G8 Plus is said to feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD display. The teardrop notch from the G7 Plus makes an appearance too, although it appears to be a tad smaller in the G8 Plus. Above the notch is a rather sizeable speaker grill, which may allude to a stereo speaker setup. The chin looks to be about the same size as the G7 Plus's. Gone is the Motorola branding that used to reside there, though.
At the back of the device is a triple camera system. A 48 MP main shooter, likely the IMX586; a 16 ultra-wide-angle lens that's labeled "Action Cam", just like on the recently released Moto One Action; and a 5 MP depth sensor.
The selfie camera is said to be a 25 MP sensor. There appear to be four sensors at the back of the phone but the last one is apparently just for laser autofocus. Those are all impressive camera specifications, and a big improvement over the Moto G7 Plus.
Under the hood is said to be 4 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage, a Snapdragon 665, and a 4000 mAh battery. Again, all major improvements over the phone's predecessor. A 3.5mm jack, rear capacitive fingerprint reader, and 27 W fast-charge are some other notable features.
The Moto G8 Plus is said to be billed for an October 24 launch.
