One of the popular Wii and Gamecube emulators, Dolphin, has been updated to Release 2503. Like some of the major updates that the emulator has received, the latest one brings a handful of notable improvements to the table. One of the biggest changes revolves around how it handles RetroAchievements when cheats are in play.
Previously, this Wii and Gamecube emulator only unlocked RetroAchievements when the games were played in the "hardcore" mode and with all the cheats disabled. However, the new update handles cheats differently. Modifications like widescreen hacks, game-breaking glitch fixes, and anti-invert stick codes won't disable achievements now. After all, these aren't exactly cheats. Instead, they are more focused on offering better accessibility.
Besides making this modification to RetroAchievements, the new Dolphin Emulator update now has hundreds of new cheats in place. These are available on all platforms, but RetroAchievements is still exclusive to the PC version. The new update for the Gamecube and Wii emulator has also added support for game-by-game graphical settings. While this was available in the earlier versions through text editor, the new version makes things easier.
The Release 2503 on desktop adds settings such as anti-aliasing and resolution directly to the game properties tab. Worth noting that game-by-game graphical settings were already available on Android, so this change only affects the PC version of the emulator.
There are a couple of other changes, including a feature that automatically tracks and displays in-game hours. The new Dolphin Emulator also has a revamped UI. You can learn more about the changes from the official changelog. As for how to download Release 2503, it's available on the official website.
