Apple already has the A17 Bionic in the works. The next-gen chipset is expected to power the iPhone 15 Pro models, and new alleged benchmark scores of the flagship SoC show a solid CPU performance boost versus the A16 Bionic on the iPhone 14 Pro phones.
Supposedly, the A17 Bionic earns a single-core score of 3019 and a multi-core score of 7860 on Geekbench 6. For some perspective, the iPhone 14 Pro and its A16 Bionic score 2504 and 6314 on Geekbench 6's single-core and multi-core tests respectively. Those numbers indicate around a 20% CPU jump in performance for the A17 Bionic.
While that may sound unimpressive to some, the A16 Bionic arrived with just around a 10% CPU performance upgrade on the A15 Bionic. Compared to that, 20% is plenty. In addition to performance upgrades, the A17 Bionic looks set to be built on TSMC's 3 nm node. That should hopefully translate into better efficiency numbers as well.
Lastly, it's important to note that these leaked scores are from a mostly unknown Chinese source and, as such, should be taken with a pinch of salt. We'll keep you updated on this either way.
