NVIDIA announces revised pricing for the RTX 3000 FE series in India
NVIDIA's own-brand versions of the state-of-the-art GeForce RTX 3000 cards have attracted serious consumer interest, even though their debuts have proven so farcical in some cases that they have resulted in US customers queueing around stores for hours in an attempt to buy one. Indian enthusiasts have faced a different kind of adversity with their purchase, mainly relating to their prices.
Consumers in this country often encounter relatively high prices for devices, thanks to the increased rate of general sales tax (GST) imposed some time ago. However, the RTX 3000 series' release may have been too much to tolerate in this vein for some. On its regional unveiling, the 3070 FE was priced at INR 51,000 - or about US$684: much higher than the original $499 price, even without the extra tariff (18% at present).
Similarly, the RTX 3080 FE was INR 71,000 (~US$953, compared to its $699 American price), whereas the flagship 3090 FE was a whopping INR 152,000 (~US$2040, as opposed to $1499). However, NVIDIA has since amended this scheme, bringing the 3070, 3080 and 3090 FEs down to INR 44500, 62000 and 133500 respectively. These prices translate to their USD equivalents plus the GST.
Therefore, this may be more acceptable to aspiring RTX 3000-based rig-builders in this country. Then again, neither of the 3 cards appears to be available to buy from NVIDIA India's website at present. In addition, any effect on customized cards from individial OEMs remains to be seen.
