NTT QONOQ Devices has unveiled the Mirza wireless XR glasses for smartphones, freeing users from needing to wrangle cords. The glasses can display virtual AR content in real-world spaces like Pokemon Go or their phone content on a large virtual display. The ability to see the real world through the Mirza glasses frees users from needing to constantly look down at their smartphones.

The ultralight Mirza allows users to view virtual content with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels using micro OLED displays capable of 1,000 nits of brightness. The glasses leverage advanced LetinAR technology that combines waveguide and birdbath AR optics to provide users with a clearer, higher-contrast AR display. Its displays are powered by the Snapdragon AR2 Gen1 chipset.

The Mirza glasses are equipped with a variety of input and output devices and sensors, including an FHD RGB camera, two side-mounted monochrome cameras, four microphones, and two speakers. Additional sensors are a light sensor for automatic display brightness, a proximity sensor to sense when the user is wearing the glasses, a touch sensor to control the unit, and accelerometer/gyro/camera spatial recognition sensors for augmented reality use.

The XR glasses weigh 4.4 ounces (125 g) and measure 7.4 x 1.8 x 7.2 inches (187 × 45 × 184 mm). The rechargeable battery provides a runtime of up to 1.5 hours and recharges in two hours using a USB-C power source. An optional Mirza prescription lens insert will be available at a later date for users needing vision correction.

The NTT QONOQ Mirza wireless XR glasses have an MSRP of 248,000 yen (~$1,700) and will be available fall 2024. Readers who want to enjoy virtual content at a lower price can pick up a pair of AR glasses here on Amazon.

PRESS RELEASE

Lightweight, wireless, high-performance XR glasses "MiRZA" announced

~The world's first AR2-equipped glasses that wirelessly connect to smartphones, and corporate partners are also recruited~

2024/9/9

press release

NTT QONOQ Devices (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Kiyotaka Hori, hereinafter referred to as "QONOQ Devices") is pleased to announce the release of QONOQ Devices' XR glasses "MiRZA™"*1. At the same time, NTT QONOQ Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Seiji Maruyama, hereinafter referred to as "QONOQ") is pleased to announce its efforts to recruit corporate partners with the aim of developing usage scenarios for this XR glass.

Lightweight, wireless, high-performance XR glasses "MiRZA"

These XR glasses are the world's first device equipped with Qualcomm, Inc.'s Snapdragon®*2 AR2 Gen 1 (AR2) chipset*3 and are designed to wirelessly connect to smartphones. It is a "JAPAN MADE" XR glass that does everything from planning to design, development, and manufacturing in Japan.

QONOQ Devices continues to create devices that are close to humans, and QONOQ will continue to develop various usage scenarios together with its partners.

Key features

Lightweight glasses-type design emphasizes ease of wearing

The weight is lightweight at about 125g while equipped with a battery, and the weight balance similar to that of glasses and the use of optical lenses with a reduced thickness make it possible to wear it without fatigue even if it is used for a long time.

Equipped with the world's first AR2, it is possible to operate wirelessly with a smartphone

The AR2 can be used to distribute the soft processing in the glass. It is now possible to connect and operate wirelessly with a smartphone, eliminating the hassle of wires.

Experience 6DoF content with high brightness and high image quality

The image is displayed with a brightness of about 1,000 nits and a high image quality of FHD (1920×1080), and you can clearly see the 3D space while actually looking at the real space through the glasses.

As a result, you can more easily experience and use 6DoF content (which recognizes location coordinates and objects in real space and places virtual content as if it existed in real space).

Key Use Cases

In addition to being able to take still images and make calls with a camera, which was previously done with a smartphone, these XR glasses can also be connected to a compatible smartphone*4 and used while displaying multiple screens at the same time.

The displayed content can be freely positioned in all 360 degrees around the user, and the size can be adjusted to work more efficiently and enjoy a comfortable video viewing.

For transcription and interpretation functions, it is compatible with XRAI Glass®*5, an award-winning app provided by XRAI, Inc. More than 140 audio languages can be instantly translated into interpretation and subtitles in front of you, supporting a variety of daily communication.

For corporate customers, it is compatible with NTT XR Real Support, a remote support solution developed by NTT QONOQ, and is expected to contribute to a variety of corporate operations.

In addition, you can also use apps that support Snapdragon Spaces.

Recruitment of Corporate Partners

QONOQ is looking for partners with the aim of expanding future usage scenarios and solutions for XR glasses made by QONOQ Devices. We would like to work with partner companies to create new use cases for XR glasses and to develop and provide solutions and content. At the time of product sales, we will open the "NTT QONOQ MiRZA Solution Partner" website and publish various programs for partner companies, such as the provision of the latest information and joint promotions.
