Motorola has now effectively validated recent leaks suggesting that a Moto "G72" would launch soon. The OEM has revealed that the new smartphone will indeed look quite like the Edge 30 Fusion; however, unlike its successor in name, the G71, it will lack support for 5G bands on its launch.
Nevertheless, Motorola aims to make up for that by bringing a 1,300-nit, 120Hz pOLED display with 10-bit color rated to replicate a billion shades to its segment of the Indian smartphone market for the first time in the G72.
The OEM is leaving its resolution and size to the imagination for now; however, it is also hyping the panel's coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10 support and 576Hz touch-sampling rate for now.
The Moto G72 is also touted as a device with Dolby Atmos-enhanced stereo speakers and a 108MP main camera. This will all be controlled with the single MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, 6GB RAM and 12GB internal storage configuration mentioned thus far.
The smartphone will ship with Android 12 out of the box (and Motorola India's ever-present ThinkShield security features), although it will be near-stock, at least. Despite rumors of 3 color options, it is slated to be available in Meteorite Grey or Polar Blue only.
Nevertheless, it may yet be in line for an attractive price for those specs. Motorola has revealed that the Moto G72 will launch via Flipkart on October 3, 2022.
