Melania Trump to release her first NFT this holiday season
Although NFTs have been around for a while, there are still many people around who don't take them seriously. However, it looks like more celebrities are joining the NFT craze and it's only a matter of time until they go mainstream. Now, the time has come for the former first lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
One of the latest messages that Mrs. Trump posted on Twitter reads the following: "Excited for this new venture, which combines my passion for art and commitment to helping our Nation’s children fulfill their own unique American Dream. #MelaniaNFT MelaniaTrump.com" and is accompanied by the image of a press release that was issued earlier today.
According to the aforementioned press release, the NFT is called "Melania's Vision" and will only be available for purchase until the end of the year. The NFT, which is a watercolor art by Marc-Antoine Coulon, uses the Solana blockchain and costs 1 SOL or roughly US$150. Credit card payments via MoonPay are also supported.
A portion of the proceeds (no percent disclosed, sadly) will support the Be Best initiative which is backed by Melania Trump and provides foster community children with technology and computer science skills.
Mrs. Trump will release NFTs on a regular basis, and next month she scheduled "a one-of-a-kind auction of historical importance" that focuses on both digital and physical artwork, but will also offer a physical "one-of-a-kind accessory" to those interested. We will get back to this topic as soon as we find out more, so stay tuned.
