Huawei typically backs the latest generation of its Mate line of flagship devices as super-premium phablets with the most innovative features possible. The recent changes in the OEM's fortunes notwithstanding, it now asserts that the upcoming 50 series will be no different. The company has now confirmed variable apertures for their XMAGE cameras outright, although it remains content to only hints at more unique specs also rumored to be found in the iPhone 14 series.

Huawei has only about 4 days from today (September 2, 2022) to finally unveil its Mate 50 series as its next range of flagship mobile devices; however, the company seems intent on packing every one of those days full of teasers to maintain hype for the long-overdue Mate 40 sucessors.

For example, the company has now come out and revealed that at least some of these big-screen smartphones (of which there are allegedly 4) will rock variable aperture technology for their rear cameras. The feature is intended to make the lens in question more versatile in different lighting conditions.

Huawei's CEO, Yu Chengdong, has also promised never-before-seen XMAGE features on top of that. In other Mate 50 series news, the executive also now strongly hints at advanced connectivity and communication specs, thus sparking speculation that these devices will rival the iPhone 14 series as fellow first-gen "satellite-phone" premium handsets.

The new putative specs may not do much in reality; nevertheless, they might be handy to augment a probable 4G/LTE-only profile in the case of the Mate 50s. Finally, Huawei has also officially outed their "emergency scan" mode that works indepedently of battery power and, thus, might allow a user to send a message in extremity and also, apparently, get more out of each charge in general.
