Huawei showed off its refreshed MateBook X Pro at IFA 2022 today after launching it in China last month. The MateBook X Pro. The 2022 iteration of the MateBook X Pro offers quite a few upgrades over its predecessor, which achieved a very good rating in our review.
The MateBook X Pro 2022 tips the scales at about 1.26 kg with a predominantly magnesium alloy chassis that receives a special micro-arc oxidation coating for that "skin-soothing" feel. The laptop features a 14.2-inch 3.1K (3,120 x 2,080) display, which Huawei says is the first to receive the TUV Rheinland for Eye Comfort 3.0 certification. The company also claimed a 60% reduction in light reflection off the screen thanks to a special nano-optical coating.
The MateBook X Pro sports a 92.5% screen-to-body ratio. The display supports Display P3 and sRGB color gamut. Although the earlier Chinese launch did mention a 90 Hz refresh rate and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio for the display, today's launch does not delve much into such specifics.
Powering the MateBook X Pro is the Intel Core i7-1260P Alder Lake processor. There is no dGPU support, so users will have to make do with integrated Xe graphics. The processor is aided in its functions with soldered 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
Huawei touts its Free Touch gesture system as an improved way of interacting with the device. Huawei Free Touch recognizes eight different gestures and responds to haptic feedback. For instance, you can use your knuckles to quickly take a screenshot or minimize/close a window.
There's also a Super Device function, which is basically Huawei-speak for instant connection to other nearby Huawei devices for quick and easy pairing. Connectivity options include 2x USB-C ports, 2x Thunderbolt 4, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Networking needs are taken care of by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. A 720p webcam, fingerprint reader, and a 60 WHr battery round up the specifications.
The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2022 will be available in the Ink Blue color option from September 2 starting from €2,199 across both online and offline retail channels. Early sales until October 2 on the Huawei Online Store will also have the option of including the Huawei MateView 28-inch 4K monitor for €599 and a 50% discount on Huawei Extended Care Warranty.
