Maingear announces Pulse 15 customizable gaming laptop
Maingear is a relatively new custom PC maker, which managed to become one of the top preferences for US users. The company specializes in both desktop and laptop models, and has recently introduced workstation solutions to the roster. The laptop side of the business is not that developed, but Maingear intends to change all this with the launch of the new Pulse 15 customizable model.
Spec-wise, the Pulse 15 integrates the Core i7-8750H six-core processor coupled with up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 2 TB Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD. The GPU solution is limited to Nvidia’s GTX 1060 6 GB version. Other features include:
• 4-in-1 card reader
• Wi-Fi + Ethernet + Bluetooth
• USB-C 3.1 (gen 2), 2x USB-A 3.0, USB-A 2.0, HDMI 2.0, 2x miniDP 1.4
• 46.74 Wh 3-cell battery
Maingear managed to squeeze the 15.6-inch display in a 14-inch brushed metal chassis, thus reducing the total weight to 4.4 lbs and the overall thickness to only 0.86 inches. This would be the slimmest and lightest laptop assembled by Maingear. The matte display has very thin bezels and the maximum supported resolution is FHD @60 Hz, but a 120 Hz option will be added in July. Also new to the laptop series is the mechanical keyboard that most likely uses Kaihua scissor-switch keys.
The Pulse 15 can already be ordered from the Maingear website for as low as US$1,399. Users can also choose to customize the appearance with automotive paints and MARC II finishes.
