With Apple refreshing older MacBooks and launching new ones, an update to its cheapest offering is due as well. The original MacBook Neo launched in March, and you can check out our in-depth review. Apple could launch a successor around the same time next year, according to an insider with information on the matter.
Mark Gurman shared in his latest post on Bloomberg that the MacBook Neo 2 is scheduled for the first half of next year. This gives the laptop until June 2026, but seeing as how the original Neo was launched in March, the successor could come sooner than June as well, despite the ongoing RAM and storage crisis.
The MacBook Neo 2 is expected to bring a processor upgrade to the A19 Pro, as well as more base RAM at 12 GB. It may come with new color options as well. There were talks about it getting a touchscreen display, which seems unlikely. Of course, the price will be higher as well, but considering the original launched at $600, the successor could still be among the best value options on the market. Along with the MacBook Neo 2, Apple is also expected to refresh the MacBook Air with the M6, though the OLED upgrade is still further away.
Meanwhile, the first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro will be unveiled tomorrow, October 28, and it is expected to come with some design improvements compared to the standard MacBook Pro.
