Lightweight Mechrevo laptop launches as new MacBook Air rival with 14-inch OLED display

The Mechrevo 14 Max Carbon has launched in China, and it's powered by the Intel Lunar Lake platform. Specifically, there are two CPU options, and the base one comes with the Core Ultra 5 226V, which is an entry-level option in the lineup.

As for the upper-end option, it's powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V, a more capable processor with the Arc 140V iGPU. While none of the processors are as powerful as the Apple M5 found in the latest MacBook Air lineup, the Mechrevo 14 Max Carbon is lighter.

Specifically, Mechrevo claims that the laptop weighs around 2.08lbs, making it lighter than the M5 MacBook Air 13-inch. Of course, the 14 Max Carbon is a bit thicker, measuring as thin as 14.9mm.

Although the laptop is thin and light, the Mechrevo 14 Max Carbon comes with a 72Wh battery. Combined with the efficient nature of the Intel Lunar Lake processors, this capacity should lead to good runtimes. The company claims that the battery life can be over 21 hours.

Another notable highlight of the laptop is the 14-inch OLED display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness rating, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and a 2880x1800 pixel resolution. Other notable highlights include a dual-fan cooling setup, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 5.7-inch trackpad, and a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel.

Both configurations come with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD (2TB Silicon Power SP002TBP34A60M28 curr. $215.97 on Amazon), and the Core Ultra 5 226V is the most affordable one, costing CNY 6,299, around $943. The upper-end Intel Core Ultra 7 256V config costs CNY 6,699, about $1,003.
