The new WS63 is now available for a starting price of $3100 USD and is one of the first to ship with a Max-Q Quadro P4000 GPU.

We predicted it in May when MSI was teasing the notebook with an unannounced GPU and now it has become a reality. The WS63 workstation is getting yet another internal refresh with the Max-Q Quadro P4000 GPU whereas previous SKUs were limited to the standard Quadro P3000. Other than the swap in GPU and changes in storage and display options, everything else about the notebook remains identical

The updated WS63 doesn't come as too big of a surprise. The WS series has been a mirror image of the gaming GS series that recently launched with the Max-Q GTX 1070. Thus, it was only a matter of time before the WS series received the same Max-Q treatment. Overall performance of the Max-Q P4000 will be very similar to the Max-Q GTX 1070 just like how the P3000 is most similar to the GTX 1060.

The MSI update comes on the same day as the official announcement of the Max-Q Quadro P3000, Max-Q Quadro P4000, and Max-Q Quadro P5000 that are based on the Max-Q GTX 1060, Max-Q GTX 1070, and Max-Q GTX 1080, respectively. Like the Max-Q GeForce versions, Max-Q Quadro should allow for more portable and lightweight workstation designs should manufacturers decide to take advantage of the higher power efficiency.
