MSI's Cubi 3 Plus compact PC is powered by the i7-7700 Kaby Lake
The mini PC market has become very busy with the release of the Kaby Lake CPU lineup from Intel. MSI is arguably the biggest mini PC integrator out there, and earlier this summer they launched the fanless Cubi 3 models, featuring the latest 15-Watt Kaby Lake-U dual-core CPUs. MSI is now expanding their mini PC offer with the announcement of the Cubi 3 Plus line that can even fit a 65-Watt i7-7700 quad-core CPU inside.
The Cubi 3 Plus is not that compact anymore, as it can fit more powerful processors, but can still make for a great media player PC. The enclosure comes with a 5x5 STX motherboard equipped with the LGA 1151 socket, so users can upgrade the processor. Since the more powerful CPUs need proper cooling, the fanless design was dropped, so the dimensions are slightly more bulky compared to the Mini series.
Standard features for all versions of the Cubi 3 Plus include:
• M.2 SSD slot
• 2.5-inch drive bay
• 802.11ac WiFi with 2 WiFi antennas
• Bluetooth 4.2
• 3.5mm audio jack
• HDMI 1.4 / DisplayPort / VGA ports
• three USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C port and two USB 2.0 ports
• Gigabit Ethernet jack
There are several versions available to order, but keep in mind these are only available in Taiwan for the time being:
