After it was revealed in the end of July that Intel had already started the mass production of Kaby Lake processors (we reported), we now got first benchmark results for the CPU with the designation i7-7500U and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 620.
The results are interesting: We can see an advantage of around 10-25 percent compared to devices with the Intel i7-6500U CPU in the Cinebench R15 Single-Core Test, and the i7-6560U is also beaten by around 7 %. A bit strange are the Cinebench R15 Multi-Core results, where the score of the i7-7500U Kaby Lake chip is surprisingly low. The OpenGL Render test shows the i7-7500U with the Intel HD Graphics 620 roughly on par with the HD Graphics 540 (i7-6560U).

The 7500U with the integrated HD 620 is about 20-25 percent ahead of devices with the Intel HD 520 GPU in the 3DMark 11 GPU sub-score, but is still around 15 percent behind the Intel Iris Graphics 540. This deficit is reduced to 9-5 percent in the latest 3DMark.
If you believe these benchmarks, the integrated GPU Intel HD Graphics of the upcoming CPU generation "Kaby Lake" could see a performance improvement of up to 50 % and more depending on the benchmark compared to the current HD Graphics 520. The CPU part could see an improvement between 10-30 percent, which is suggested by the leaked Single-Core benchmark. We cannot say why the CPU performance is comparatively bad in the Multi-Core test right now. Reasons might be thermal limitations due to the used system or an immature driver. The Cinebench screenshot shows a core clock of 2.9 GHz, which would be slightly slower compared to the current i7-6500U (up to 3.0 GHz).
