USB drives do not really get too much attention design-wise, as they usually come in plastic enclosures with the usual Type-A connector. Silicon Power thought this design needed a serious overhaul and came up with a 3-in-1 drive that integrates all the important USB connectors. Thanks to its multifunctional design, the new Mobile C50 USB flash drive can connect to PCs, smartphones, tablets, cameras and smart TVs.
Silicon Power is offering the C50 drive in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB configurations. The ingenious design shelters the Micro-B connector within the Type-A one, while the Type-C connector is protected by a special rubber cap on the opposite side. The drive enclosure is built to protect against dust, water and vibrations, operating at temperatures between 0°C and 70° C. In order to connect to Android smartphones, the drives come packed with an SP File Explorer app developed by Silicon Power.
Other important specs include:
• transfer rates of up to 5 Gbps for the USB Type-A and the USB Type-C connectors
• 480 Mbps for the USB Micro-B connector
• dimensions of 1.6” X 0.2” X 0.5”
• 0.18 lbs weight
• 5 year warranty
The price for each variant is not yet known, but Silicon Power will start shipping the C50 drives in the first weeks of August.
