With the launch of AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 AM5 platform that supports PCIe 5.0, we are starting to see more and more SSD makers rolling out NVMe storage solutions supporting the latest standards. MSI is among the first to introduce a PCIe 5.0 NVMe 2.0 SSD incorporating Phison’s E26 controller. The new SPATIUM M570 HS SSD uses high-quality 3D NAND flash memory chips and comes in 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB capacities. MSI recommends this new blazing-fast SSD models for professionals, content creators working with 4K+ video files and gamers seeking the lowest load times possible.
Due to the higher operational temperatures of the PCIe 5.0 controller, MSI’s SPATIUM M570 SSD comes with a bronze-colored aluminum heatsink that considerably adds to the profile height, so the solution can only be used with desktop PCs. Phison is looking to provide these SSDs for laptops without the necessary bulky heat spreaders, but it is not that easy to implement fixes for this problem at the moment.
MSI tested the SPATIUM M570 on MEG Z690 GODLIKE motherboard and recorded 12.3 GB/s sequential read speeds along with 10.1 GB/s sequential write speeds. Furthermore, a RAID 0 matrix coupling two SSDs can perform 170% faster than the aforementioned speeds.
