Every gaming laptop manufacturer will have its Skylake products either for sale right now or for sale very soon; even MSI fits this bill with multiple gaming-centric laptops offering Skylake right now. That's an important caveat, because the MSI GS70 isn't the top of MSI's offerings right now; that'd be the MSI GT72 Dominator, which runs around $400 more than the MSI GS70's $2599 asking price.

Model: The MSI GS70 6QE-017AU is another strong showing of MSI's intentions in the gaming laptop market. Also known as the GS70 6QE STEALTH PRO, this laptop is designed to be slightly tamer than its more flashy counterparts, but it still contains top of the line hardware. The entire laptop is finished in brushed metal with grayish and purple tinge. MSI has included the usual SteelSeries gaming keyboard with full-colour backlight, which is the most eye catching feature on the laptop. Display on the MSI GS70 6QE-017AU is a huge 17.3 inch Full HD panel with superb colors and clarity. Audio quality is second to none with the ESS Sabre Hi-Fi Audio DAC powering the speakers by Dynaudio.
The MSI GS70 6QE-017AU comes with the latest 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, a high-end GeForce GTX 970M with dedicated 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM and up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM for the ultimate mobile gaming experience. Storage on the laptop can be configured with HDD + M.2 SSD with various space options. Other supporting features include Bluetooth 4.1, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 3.1 Type A ports, a card reader, two mini-Display ports, an HDMI out and Killer network devices. The MSI GS70 6QE-017AU comes with a massive 6-cell battery and weighs only 2.6 kg in total.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M:
Second fastest high-end graphics card based on the Maxwell GM204 chip from the GeForce GTX 900M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.6 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
60%: Such a poor rating is rare. There are only a few notebooks that were rated even worse. The rating websites do not give a purchase recommendation here.
