Gigabyte's P37W v4 is one of the fastest laptops we've had the pleasure of using, and its battery life isn't as bad as we were expecting from a gaming laptop. It is ridiculously expensive though at around £1,450, and the keyboard and trackould be a whole lot better. Still, in its class of 17.3-inch laptops, it's one of the best.

Overall there’s a lot to like about the P37W. It carries on Gigabyte’s good run of gaming-focussed laptops, with battery life being particularly impressive, and it’s no slouch when it comes to performance either. We marginally prefer the build quality of the Asus G571JT, but you really can’t go wrong with either.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M:

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
