Reviews for the MSI Alpha 15 B5EEK-008
The MSI Alpha 15 is one among the handful of AMD Advantage gaming laptops available. Powered by the Ryzen 7 5800H and Radeon RX 6600M, the Alpha 15 comes with the promise of achieving 100 fps at 1080p High in modern games. We find this to be largely true, giving laptops with the Core i7-11800H and the RTX 3060 a run for their money. However, there are areas where MSI had to compromise in order to strike a balance between price and performance.

First, let’s mention some of the downsides here. Undoubtedly, one of them is the I/O. Although you get most of what you’ll need, there is no SD card reader, one of the USB Type-A slots is limited to 2.0 speeds, and the USB Type-C port is only 3.2 (Gen. 1). You know, we don’t feel that this is the laptop that screams – bang for your buck. Its design is basically recycled, the hardware is good but definitely not great. Well, it will run all AAA titles out there at the moment. Don’t get us wrong, we love to see the revived competition between AMD and NVIDIA, but we are eager to test more devices to see if team Red can overthrow its opponent. At the end of the day, though, the display is great (especially with our Gaming and Web design profile), and the battery life is good enough for you to consider this as more than your daily driver.
