Kingdoms and Castles is a city builder set in the Middle Ages, where the goal is to develop your city and face numerous dangers. But to become the most powerful, you'll need to master several game mechanics.

Inspired by Banished and SimCity, Kingdoms and Castles is a city builder developed and published by Lion Shield. As in many games of this genre, you'll need to expand your city into a powerful kingdom while facing many challenges.

Indeed, the world around you is alive and full of dangers, such as Viking invasions. To protect your resources and your people, you’ll need to build walls and towers and survive weather events. You can also try different combinations to find the best one.

Managing your city is also important, and you will have to improve it in different ways. Each building must be designed to bring happiness to your residents. To boost your economy, collect taxes, farm your land, harvest resources, and form alliances.

Despite a mixed reception at launch on July 20, 2017, Kingdoms and Castles now has 93% positive reviews based on more than 31,160 reviews. Players love its gameplay as well as its dynamic and living world. The building mechanics are also highly praised, allowing players to vary their playstyle. However, the game is quite difficult to master and can be quite repetitive. Many players have also criticized the user interface.

Currently, it is 50% off on Steam, priced at $9.99. This offer ends on June 25, 2026, and its price will return to $19.99, according to SteamDB.
