Deal | Cyberpunk RPG with excellent reviews (96% positive) drops below $8 on Steam

HeistGeist is essentially Cyberpunk 2077 as a compact RPG deck-builder – without an open world, but with a gripping story. Normally, the 2024 title from Doublequote Studio costs $19.90. Steam is currently once again offering a 60% discount, bringing the price down to $7.96 – according to SteamDB, matching its previous all-time low. While Steam lists Steam Deck compatibility as “Unknown”, a community post by the developers states that the game should run well on Valve’s handheld PC.
Instead of Night City, HeistGeist takes players to a futuristic version of Central Europe, where corporations, hitmen and data thieves call the shots. The story centers on Alexandra – a professional thief who suddenly becomes a target herself after a botched job in Venice. Players assemble a team of specialists, plan risky heists and use cards to hack through security systems in order to steal valuable data. If the plan goes wrong, HeistGeist turns into a tactical card RPG. Combat is turn-based: using cards, Alexandra attacks guards, builds defenses, weakens enemies or sets up powerful combos. The order often matters – first a low-cost attack, then a booster and finally a powerful finisher.

HeistGeist has been very well received by players. So far, only around 150 reviews have been posted, but 96% of them are positive. In addition to the tactical deck-building gameplay with its combo chains, players especially praise the strong cyberpunk story. Many also appreciate that HeistGeist does not include roguelike elements, meaning players do not have to start over after a defeat. There is some criticism, however: according to players, the early game can be very tough because the player’s deck does not yet run smoothly at first. Anyone who gets through this phase should have a lot of fun with HeistGeist.
