Blizzard rumor wave: Fans hope for Classic Plus, Warcraft 4 and an ARPG starring Arthas

The Blizzard rumor mill is currently running at full speed. The speculation began when dataminer and insider Stiven_SRB brought up the codename “Camelot,” which is being discussed in connection with recent datamining findings and a mysterious Patch 1.60. Fans quickly began to suspect that it could be a larger WoW Classic project.

Specifically, many fans are hoping for WoW Classic Plus. Under this concept, Blizzard would continue developing the original Azeroth with new zones, dungeons, raids and story content – completely independent of previous expansions. This theory has not yet been officially confirmed. However, the desire for a “Classic Plus” has been circulating among fans for years, so it does not seem unlikely that Blizzard could now want to fulfill it. According to another leak, “Camelot” could be released as early as fall 2026.

Warcraft 4 and an action RPG featuring Arthas?

Shortly after the Camelot leak, X user GottaSmokeEmAll published a screenshot allegedly taken from an internal Warcraft roadmap. It lists several future projects. In addition to “Camelot” for fall 2026, it also mentions a new real-time strategy game called “Warcraft Chronicles” for 2028, with the note “Anime Series” appearing above its name. Also interesting is a mysterious “Arthas ARPG” listed for 2029, accompanied by the note “Live Action.” This suggests that Blizzard may be planning not just new games, but a larger cross-media project.

When it comes to the strategy game, the community is naturally hoping for Warcraft 4. However, it could just as easily be something entirely new – or, as some fans fear, a mobile game. The Arthas ARPG also leaves plenty of room for speculation: essentially, it sounds like Warcraft lore built on a Diablo-style foundation. Whether Blizzard is actually planning such a crossover remains completely unclear, however, as the origin of the screenshot cannot yet be definitively verified. Some users claim to have seen the image years ago, although this cannot currently be proven either. The leak is certainly interesting – especially since the timeline shown does not seem unrealistic – but it should still be treated with a great deal of caution.
