This aluminum-made charging dock/stand supports both the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro is the first non-keyboard accessory for Apple's tablet that uses the Smart Connector and retails for $99.99 USD.

Yesterday, Logitech unveiled a new charging dock/stand for the iPad Pro, one that uses the Smart Connector. Leaving keyboards aside, this is the first accessory for Apple's iPad Pro that takes advantage of the new port. Its entire name should make things clear - "Logi BASE Charging Stand with Smart Connector™ for iPad Pro™."

According to the official press release, this new accessory "gives you the perfect viewing angle for enjoying apps and entertainment in every room," also offering the ability to type on the display and use Siri while charging the tablet. Logi BASE comes after the Logi CREATE, launched last fall as the first third-party Smart Connector-compatible keyboard.

Logi BASE is made using high-grade aluminum, features a premium finish and has a curved shape. It is compatible with both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro and has a suggested retail price of $99.99 USD. Those interested can already purchase it from Logitech and Apple.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
