After the disappointing launch of No Man's Sky and its subsequent redemption arc, Hello Games announced a spiritual successor in the form of a multiplayer endless fantasy adventure game called Light No Fire. The game's stand-out feature has to be its Earth-sized open world and its rich biomes waiting to be explored.

It's no secret that No Man's Sky has had a tumultuous history, although Hello Games has since managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat, turning what was an empty husk into a fun adventure-survival game with a solid multiplayer scene. Now, Hello Games has announced its next action-adventure-survival game, Light No Fire.

Hello Games describes Light No Fire as "a game about adventure, building, survival and exploration together. Set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth, it brings the depth of a role playing game to the freedom of a survival sandbox," but the trailer reveals that there's more to the game than a massive map and standard building and survival gameplay.

For one, it seems as though players will be able to ride dragons, which is wish fulfilment almost every gamer can relate to on some level. Secondly, Light No Fire seems to feature a number of rich biomes, including open grassy plains full of diverse wildlife, barren deserts, forests, and snowy mountains.

On top of that, Light No Fire seems to feature underwater exploration, which always adds a degree of depth to a game. All of this exploration and fantasy takes place against a magical fantasy backdrop. Multiplayer gameplay and combat also feature strongly in the trailer, although Hello Games hasn't shared many specifics regarding these gameplay elements.

Hello Games is making some pretty grandiose claims about Light No Fire, and the massive hype and subsequent disappointment around the launch of No Man's Sky are sure to come to mind. Looking at the state of the game today, it's safe to say that Hello Games has learned a lot from No Man's Sky, so there is a good chance it will manage to execute a lot of what it has planned for Light No Fire.

That said, the promises made regarding Light No Fire are somewhat less ambitious than No Man's Sky's galaxy-spanning endeavour. We can only hope that the developers don't let an idea that seems to have a lot of promise fall by the wayside because of a poor launch. On the topic of launches, no date has been confirmed for Light No Fire, but it has apparently been in development for five years already, so it likely won't be too long before gamers get to step foot in the vast new world.
