MagyarLexar launches SL660 Blaze USB-C SSD with RGB LEDs for $120 USD because "gaming storage" is a thing now
Slap a bunch of RGB lights on something stylishly designed and you'll likely have something that will appeal to gamers. The Lexar SL660 is an RGB-lit USB-C thumb drive with extremely fast transfer rates reaching up to 2000 MB/s to allow for fast game loads and installations without relying on internal NVMe SSDs.
The high-end drive is encased in aluminum for a more premium feel than most other USB-C thumb drives. The packaging includes both USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to USB-C cables.
In order to obtain such fast transfer rates, however, users must connect the drive to a USB 3.2 Gen. 2x2 port which is relatively uncommon on PCs. A Thunderbolt port, for example, will not necessarily support the USB 3.2 Gen. 2x2 specification. We also have our concerns about performance sustainability as transfer rates may throttle if the temperature of the drive reaches too high.
Amazon is currently shipping the drive in 512 GB and 1 TB capacities for $120 USD and $190 USD, respectively.
