Lenovo's AI Work Companion Concept is an evolution of its defunct Smart Clock Essential

Lenovo has announced a nifty concept device at MWC 2026 that reminds us of the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. Called the Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept, the trapezoid-shaped device might appear like a desk clock, but actually does more than that.
Sporting a screen, the Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept displays a user's schedule including tasks and appointments when synced to their device(s). In addition, it monitors the user's screen time and suggests breaks, thus doubling as a digital wellness device. Lenovo says it will even provide a detailed report of completed tasks at the end of each week.
The Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept has a large red knob at the top which Lenovo says users can customize. It doesn't provide any examples, but we believe it should be able to at least work as a volume knob. There's also a customizable button on the far right.
The device also doubles as a hub with an array of ports on the back that includes two HDMI ports for connecting dual displays, two USB-A ports (7.5W max), two USB-C ports (7.5W max), and an ethernet port. There's also a 100W retractable cable that can be connected to a PC. On the right side, the Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept has an audio jack, a 20W USB-C port, and a USB-A port. The device itself is powered by an IEC C7 connector.
Images provided by Lenovo show that the clock face on the AI Work Companion Concept can be customized. It will also display additional information such as how much battery is available on a connected laptop and how long till it is fully charged. There's also a quick action menu that includes icons for apps such as calculator, mail, and ChatGPT as well as actions such as cut, paste, and microphone mute.
There's no info yet on whether the Lenovo AI Work Companion Concept will eventually be released commercially, but one can agree it does look like a pretty useful gadget.
