Lenovo launches new Intel Wildcat Lake-powered MacBook Neo rival with 16-inch display

Lenovo has introduced the refreshed Lecoo Air 16 Core Edition in China. It's powered by an Intel Wildcat Lake processor and is positioned directly against the MacBook Neo.

Specifically, this new Lenovo laptop packs the Intel Core 5 315, a six-core processor from the Wildcat Lake lineup, and it features the 2-core Xe³ iGPU. It's paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM running at 5,600 MT/s and a 512GB SSD, which is upgradeable.

A notable highlight of the laptop is its thin and light design. Lenovo mentions that the system weighs around 1.28kg (about 2.82lbs), while it's said to be as thin as 13.3mm. For comparison, the MacBook Neo weighs around 1.23kg (around 2.7lbs), and it's 12.7mm thick when the lid is closed.

The slightly heavier, thicker build may put this Lenovo laptop a little behind the MacBook Neo in terms of form factor, but it's worth noting that the Lecoo Air 16 features a 16-inch display, which is much larger than the 13-inch screen on the MacBook Neo. However, the display doesn't bring any fancy specs.

To be precise, it's a regular 60Hz display with a 1920x1200 pixel resolution and a 300 nits brightness rating. The good part is that it's rated for 100% sRGB coverage, and there's DC dimming.

Another notable aspect is the 60Wh battery, which, according to Lenovo, can offer up to 17.8 hours of backup when handling office work. There's support for 100W PD fast charging (Anker Prime 160W charger curr. $115.99 on Amazon), and the laptop sports two 5Gbps USB-C ports with DP 1.4, while the third Type-C port is for data transfers only. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack.

In China, Lenovo has put up a new Lecoo Air 16 Core Edition up for pre-orders, and the initial price tag is CNY 4,699, about $699. It's available in one configuration only, and the IdeaPad Slim 3i (16", Gen 11), which is available outside China, has a similar set of specs, but it's not widely available yet.
